Household chores are a family job, not a women's job!

Unfortunately, in the 21st century, sexist taboos still exist within the domestic life of many families; no, housekeeping is not a job for the women!

In modern society, people saw men as family providers, they were meant to support family’s finances and, on the other hand, women were the best housekeepers as well as the greatest babysitter you could have!
This paradigm has changed a long time ago, but despite the women emancipation, the stigma still remains in too many homes – as evidenced by Eurostat’s statistical portrayal of the lives of women and men in Europe. In Portugal, by the time of the this study, 2017, only 19% of adult men were performing some kind of daily household chores, which is manifestly low when it’s compared to 78% of adult women.

We are in the 21st century, in a free society that is moving towards equality of duties and rights, but, as the study proves: mentalities must change!
We have no magic solution for reversing thoughts overnight – this is impossible – yet we believe that simple changes as proper usage of the language can work, so: men don’t have to help at home! We even want to go further… women don’t need help!
The term help has implied the idea that there is an obligation, so in a shared home, no one is a help, everyone is part and therefore everyone co-op.

Summing up!

Women, you can’t be the first to have sexist thoughts, do not take social impositions as law, approach them critically but consciously.

Men, if you have a life partner, give up on that sexist stigma and work on your partnership with her, co-op not only on household chores but in life!
